Merciful Father, let me love You, my Lord and my God, and see myself as I really am: a pilgrim on a journey; a Christian called to respect and to love all those whose lives I touch, friends and foes alike. Help me to conquer anger with gentleness, greed with generosity, apathy with fervor. Help me to forget myself so that I can reach out toward others in justice, in peace, and in love. Amen.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.”
(Proverbs 3:1-2, NIV)
