Week of September 12

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the grandparents you have given to us.

Some are biological, but many are friends, neighbors, and co-workers who willingly reach out to us in times of need or distress. They lovingly share their knowledge and insights to help us resolve or improve situations in our lives. They know just how to calm a crying baby, to settle a wondering toddler, to encourage a distraught teenager, and especially how to restore a broken adult who is facing uncertainties.

We thank You that they have lived through many events and have gained the wisdom to overcome any obstacle when guided by Your teachings. We are grateful for their faithfulness. We are encouraged to continue this in our lives, and to pass this on to the next generation.

Thank You for their comforting smiles when we come into their presence. Thank You for those special treats they always give us as an extra measure of comfort. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for giving us a sample of Your loving care through grandparents, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

“Gray hair is a crown of splendor, it is attained by a righteous life.”

(Proverbs 16:31, NIV)
